Sweetfield Manor Barbados Wedding
Imagine driving along the south coast of Barbados – the salty stained air whirling around you and tickling your nose as the car meanders it’s way on island time. Whatever stress you had pent up in your shoulders just melts away. A smile steals its way on your face as the car crunches gravel and brings you face to face with the quaint tucked away beauty of a plantation house that is Sweetfield Manor. A couple hundred paper cranes dance on strings and point to you in the direction of cascading laughter. Debbie and her girls.
And as you take your first step onto the old mohagoany stained staircase that leads to the upper level you overhear muffled cheers and rambunctious laughter and take a detour in that direction. The scene of men chilling across bunk beds while ogling a football match greets you; football is what they call it here, not soccer. There’s no rush to the afternoon activities, everyone is chill, relaxing, enjoying each other’s company. When you’re on an island like Barbados, it’s hard not to take it easy.
Debbie and Patrick’s elegant and classic wedding was like a mini tour into the history of some of Barbados most prominent features. Their wedding ceremony was held at one of the most romantic locations on the island – St. John’s Parish church (which also happens to be the oldest church on the island). Wait until you see the pictures of Debbie walking in – it has an almost royal wedding feel to it! Following the ceremony we did a quick stop at the oldest seminary in the Western hemisphere. You can’t help but imagine heralders annoucing your entrace as you make your way along the driveway of tall coconut trees. Ok, ok…maybe we were in a bit of dream land there but all we can tell you is how we felt. Then to end the night swaying to the soothing sounds of Masala band under the stars at Sweetfield Manor…yea, you can’t beat that. Debbie and Patrick’s wedding was certainly one for the books!
Debbie and Patrick, it was a honor to photograph your Sweetfield Manor Barbados wedding! We wish you many, many more years of love in marriage!
