Sydonie Mansion Wedding
They met in 2010 while working for Florida Citrus Sports in Orlando – however– it was a few hard fought games of Nintendo Wii at the Christmas party that really sparked their friendship. A re-match became their first date a couple weeks later. Only a few months into dating Carlyn moved to Miami for a job with the Orange Bowl and therein began their love affair with the Florida Turnpike for three years. With Matt still living in Orlando they would often meet up halfway for movie dates on the weekends and skyping each other during the week to watch their favorite TV shows together. In 2014, Carlyn made a big decision to move back to Orlando and then in Nov 2015, 5 years to the week that they met Matt proposed. 🙂
Always one to be there for her friends – Matt ensured that they played in instrumental role in their proposal story by having her girlfriends send random wedding related questions to her – she was after all a wedding planner so it wasn’t entirely unusual. Their proposal happened in the cozy setting of a friend’s home. Carlyn had showed up to spend quality time with her friend Yamilee cooking dinner. Unbeknownst to her Matt was not at the “special event” that he had told her he would be attending that evening. Instead he was hiding in Yamilee’s house. While in conversation with her friend and with her back turned to his location, Matt walked out of the room he was hiding in. Carlyn eventually noticed a figure out of the corner of her eye and was stunned to find that it was Matt. Matt’s proposal in the cozy familiarity of her friend’s home brought her to tears.
Carlyn texted us just a few days after the proposal in Nov 2015 with a couple photos of her newly endowed ring finger and deliriously happy faces! We’ve known Carlyn for a little while now – with our first introduction being at a wedding in Fort Lauderdale. Some of our favorite weddings couples were those she referred. We literally could not wait for her wedding day and after meeting Matt via Skype we knew that their union was one that would be steeped in friendship, love and mutual respect for each other.
Their Sydonie Mansion wedding was absolutely beautiful. Built in the Mediterranean revival style the Sydonie Mansion was designed to reflect the Alahamba Castle in Spain with its sculpted gardens, stone statues, peaceful fountains and vine covered walls.
Isn’t she beautiful?
Loving the purple laces in Matt’s shoes – a nod to the prominent color palette in their wedding.
Carlyn, her mom and mom-in-law
Loved these monogrammed shirts that the ladies wore
The detail in this dress! Gah!
Loved the dress reveal Carlyn did with her bridesmaids. Their expressions were priceless
One dapper groom!
Loved their First Look and candid moments before the wedding
Can we talk about this cascade for a minute? #goals
Love the backdrop of the house to Carlyn’s father walking her down the aisle
