.A wedding anniversary photography session at Coral Cove Park.
That’s what she said when I asked how long she had been married to Merv.
“How old were you when you got married? 12?” I asked jokingly.
She laughed ” No…eighteen”
I was stunned. Phil & I have known these two for a few years now. In fact they are one of the three couples we met when we moved to West Palm Beach and they are the craziest of the group – well, just Karen. The rest of us are sane! The stories they’ve shared with us of the growth in their relationship, some of the trials they’ve endured and their love for each other…I shake my head and marvel. Them? They’re true couple goals. They’re the evidence of choosing daily to commit to serving each other in their marriage.
Karen has a passion (read unhealthy addition!) for the beach likely because of her Jamaican roots. So when she asked us to suggest a beach we opted for Coral Cove Beach Park. They have never been to this beach and both fell in love with the coral rock formations that provided a playground for the sea.
There is certain ying/yang to their relationship. The complement each other well. Karen is the social butterfly and should be dubbed the “queen bee” of Palm Beach! Everyone knows Karen. Merv is the reserved and gentle force that leads her. So when they arrived for the session with Karen wearing a bright yellow dress from ASOS and Merv decked out in tan blazer and navy slacks, Phil and I couldn’t help ourselves. There was a “yaaasss” moment because their outfits perfectly reflects who they are.
Their wedding anniversary session has been a while in the making – probably about a year now. So seeing them finally take the time to celebrate their journey and the growing pains that came along with it, was the highlight of our month. They are both so selfless, giving and understanding. Merv will literally give you the shirt off his back, and is more interested in listening to understand your point of view versus engaging in arguments. Karen has a wealth of knowledge within her field as a financial advisor but her crowning glory is her faith. Sometimes we call her Pastor Karen! lol
We are so in love with the moments they shared with each other!
